The Glaziers’ Company

wcglogoThe Worshipful Company of Glaziers & Painters of Glass is one of the ancient Livery Companies of the City of London. It has been in existence for nearly 800 years. It works tirelessly for the promotion of the art and craft of stained glass and the preservation of this priceless part of our heritage. Its charity, the Glaziers’ Foundation (registered charity no 1143700), gives grants for the conservation and preservation of stained glass windows and rescues glass from deconsecrated churches and other buildings with a view to giving it a new lease of life elsewhere. It helps to develop the next generation of stained glass artists and conservators through competitions and awards, including the internationally renowned Stevens Competition for Architectural Glass. It has recently developed an apprenticeship scheme.

Membership of the Company is not restricted to practising glass professionals. Anyone with an interest in this unique art form is welcome to join us in helping to preserve its future. The Glaziers’ Company is renowned for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and runs an active social and events programme. It also offers excellent networking opportunities across a number of professions and plays a full part in the civic life of the City of London. Full details of membership can be found here.
